the library was large, which he had expected from an academy such as this. Times of breaks or lunch it seemed like the best place to go to. There was more privacy in the Library then one would realize.
And Daevon liked that.
There were two floors to this library. The second floor was his favorite. Not many students were permitted on this floor unless by a teacher and it seemed like one wouldn't have a real interest to go up there unless...they didn't want to be seen.
Daevon stood in the corner of the second floor, in a more shadowed area, looking over some books. He seemed pretty at ease. He knew that Lucien was some where probably banging one of the teachers, all the students were out in the courtyard are in the lunch room. He was bored but atleast he was bored alone.

Daevon would only be alone for a brief moment.
After that, the clacking of Drayden's shoes on the polished floor could be heard, and the vampire emerged around a tall bookcase, carring a few tomes of his own. He turned his back to Daevon, pausing to replace the books on the shelves.
"Lovely afternoon, is it not?" he said casually by way of greeting, his back still to Daevon as he put his books in the proper places on the shelves. The sunlight captured in his rich curls beautifully and his slender body was emphasize as he reached up to push a book into place on the top shelf. "Have you seen the garden this year? It looks splendid."

It was a bit of a surprise to see Daevon up there. He had figured that the male was with his Father. Shocking. He turned to look, noticing how the sunlight danced across the red hair giving it a glowing affect. It was rather beautiful.
He turned back to the tomes in front of him. "I have not..I haven't found a reason to..."

Drayden laughed softly, turning to face Daevon once he had emptied his hands. Yes, he was with Sisao most of the time, but not always. He had his own classes, after all...like now, he had been getting the art room ready for fifth period when he found some books he needed to return. Since lunch was just starting, though, he had time.
"Allow me to give you a reason to, then, Professor Ydranna really outdid himself this year," Drayden loved to visit the garden. "Walk with me, Daevon?"

They all had a little bit of time. It was fine, He normally spent his periods like this alone, so another person around other then a student was a nice change of pace. Especially his master.
"I'm sure he has" Daevon remarked as he turned to face the vice headmaster."Well...I needed some books, but I can get them later...I'll walk with you."

Drayden considered himself Daevon's master in name only. Daevon had completed all his training, after all, and was now instructing Lucien...and Drayden had devoted himself entirely to Sisao. And so, though, he still may be referred to as Daevon's master, he didn't feel he had any legitimate hold over the other.
Smiling in that way of his that seems kind, but pleasantly sly and almost omniscient, Drayden offered his arm to Daevon to take.
"Good choice."

Yes it was only a title that no longer had any hold or even any power over the male. But Drayden had some power over him. Even if it was just a little bit. He had some.
sighing he wrapped his arm around the other's. "I don't always go out...everyone knows that.." He didn't always prefer it.

"A little sun is good for your skin," Drayden answered with amusment, setting a leisurely pace and down the stairs with Daevon. Of course, too much sun wasn't good, but a little here and there helped maintain a healthy complexion. "And the fresh air for your soul."
Truthfully, Drayden felt concerned for Daevon. He knew about his former protege's trouble with the boy, and he also knew Lucien delighting in defying him at every turn.
He also happened to know where Lucien was at this very moment...
"Has the year started out well for you?"

"A little sun may be good for you, but I do not care for it." True the air and the light were good for the body and spirit, these things did not matter much to him. He was pale, and he looked as though he barely fed.
It bothered him, and he on occasion tried to show the boy his place, but yet Lucien defied him still.
"yes, well enough"

On the other hand, Daevon and Lucien's relationship amused Drayden. Drayden, of course, had been in Lucien's position once...not so drastically, perhaps, but he had wanted to same things out of Sisao as Lucien wanted from Daevon.
A worthy master.
But Sisao had quickly proven himself as that, whereas Daevon -- as far as Lucien was concerned -- had yet to make that achievement.
No matter, Drayden was sure Daevon would succeed sooner or later. He just wondered sometimes if it wouldn't be Lucien who broke the man first. Oftentimes he could see how Lucien was changing Daevon...he could see the toll his son was taking on the other male. It didn't bode well for their future, but Daevon would have to learn eventually...
These weren't the types of decisions anyone could make for him.
"I'm glad you're here this year," Drayden commented, walking with Daevon out of the library and, setting a slow pace, down the corridor towards the courtyard. "I think teaching students will be good for you."
Perhaps it would help him learn how to better deal with Lucien.
"And you have many skills to offer them, the benefits are numerous. It will help get your attention off other things, won't it?"

Sometimes Daevon wondered if he was really the student and Lucien was the teacher.
It was far from an easy situation and the youth knew that sooner or later he'd have to show Lucien that he wasn't in charge and Daevon was a worthy master, but who even knew when that was going to be.
Keeping his arm looped with Drayden's he sighed a bit. "I'm glad." It was something he had always wanted to do...to be a teacher like his father was previously, and he knew that it would help take his mind off mostly Lucien.
"I've been doing with so far.."

Drayden had wondered if it would be alright, having Daevon, Lucien, Sisao, and himself operating within the same establishment. But there hadn't seemed to be much problem so far, and he hoped that would remain the case.
Perhaps Daevon and Sisao would work out their issues completely. Drayden, for one, did enjoy spending some time with his former apprentice.
"Yes, I can tell." Daevon was a good teacher, like his father had been.
Pausing, Drayden opened the door for Daevon that led out into the courtyard. "You've already established yourself as an indisposable part of the faculty."

The thought often crossed his mind. Sisao and Daevon were still not anywhere near being kind to each other, but there was some strange level of respect between them. Both Dyakov males could be ruthless and cruel, but they kept it to themselves or to the ones closes to them like Drayden or Lucien.
He smiled. staring at the ground as they moved. He could be patient and listening...he just couldn't stand having his buttons pushed.
He stepped out, his eyes squinting as the light hit them. "I have?" A little surprised.
