I was just curious to see (and eager to post more.) what people thought was 'to far' with there characters and god-moders.
I personally don't generally draw to much of a line with my characters. if they do something without my permission, i'll deny it and warn them. if they attempt to harm my character, especially auto-hitting, I'll usually dodge it anyways (Even if I wasn't going to.) and warn them, as for other things it doesn't bother me, usually I rp it out and if it continues then I'll bring it to a mods attention. As for god-moders there like play toys, simply because there usually noobs who can't come up with a fairly nice battle strategy, in the end strategy defeats power.

Battling in RPs is not really my thing. I will do it in an rp for storyline and depending the situation, but I absolutely hate random battles without any sort of reasoning behind it. If someone reacts for my character or hits automatically without me doing anything then I get a bit irked. I won't report it unless they do it after receiving a warning. Generally I do like you Yllarius and post a dodge even if I wasn't going to.
As for god-moders. I ignore them entirely.

I've never really had a problem with god-moders. Well, actually...let me rephrase. I've never had a problem with god-moders that I couldn't solve easily because I was an all-powerful admin. Usually it's best to discuss it with your adversary first and decide who will win (or how the fight will end, even if in a draw or other intervention), then you can focus mostly on just giving an entertaining, creative fight.
If it's a minor hit I'll generally take it and give a warning, but auto-hitting is against the rules as it goes in with controlling the other char.
It's also important to take in your char's strengths and weaknesses and the other char's strengths and weaknesses. Not all chars are going to be equally matched, so it's important to discuss it with the player. If no decision can be made or they really do seem equally matched, flip a coin to determine the outcome. Even if the losing char isn't one that would normally be defeated, you can always rp a circumstance that made it tough for that char to win (ex. his grandma died and he couldn't concentrate on his spells, he twisted his ankle the day before so it made it tough for him to evade, his weapon broke into three pieces, ect).
All chars have strengths and weaknesses, yes, but some chars are better for combat. My char Ryukouzi, for example, is very strong in weapon combat and magic, as he rarely does anything other than train. As such, he'd be an extremely formidable opponent, but he does have both an elemental weakness and a physical one. Now, whether or not the adversary can find the weakness and exploit them are another matter. Either way, he'd be tough to defeat.
My character Lusen, however, is not so strongly adapted to combat. He's quick and has some spells, but he'd only be a moderate opponent. Usually people know where their character limitations are, and can rp them accordingly.
I usually don't rp random combat, either, when I do combat it's usually for plot purposes. Because of that, usually I have an outcome in mind and don't have this problem. ^^
Still I hope some people find this helpful.

What about auto-hitting yourself? Like if I wanted to illustrate a character's durability, or wanted take damage to a specific body part, would it be against the rules intent to post "His opponent struck quickly, placing a few slashes across his chest which he easily pressed through..." ? It seems to be against the letter, but not the intent...

Auto-hitting yourself is different, I think. If your opponent is NPC that's fine, if your oponnent is PC, and slashed at you like that, it's fine. But if your opponent didn't post saying he slashed like that, I would advise against it. In the end, if it effects your character it's your choice, but remember your not allowed to control another character.

^^ It doesn't normally bother me, if it's a small thing. I don't do much battling roleplays, there's more talking, but once there was a guy hitting on my character. He was all "You sit on my lap and smile at me and I say I love you and we kiss passionately" except with bad spelling and grammar and such. ^^ It was kinda funny, but I just ignored him.
